Nita Ambani and her Successful Business Ventures

Nita Ambani, the wife of India’s richest man, has her own identity in the business world. She is the Founder and Chairperson of Reliance Industries’ philanthropic arm, Reliance Foundation.

Exhibition at Chicago

Reliance Foundation is the lead sponsor of the exhibition, ‘Gates of the Lord: The Tradition of Krishna Paintings’ at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The exhibition is a first for the Hindu sect that goes by the name of Pushtimarj, and it gives their unique culture a level of global exposure it has never enjoyed before. Pushtimarjis a religious community founded byVallabhacharya in the 1500s. The people of this sect are devoted to Shrinanji, a form of Lord Krishna as a child. They dedicate paintings and textile hangings known as pichvais to Shrinanji. Around 100 depictions from their private collections are now on display at Chicago.

Ambani has expressed her desire to promote India’s art and culture since the inception of the Foundation, five years ago. She was presented with an opportunity to further this goal when members of the Art Institute of Chicagoapproached her. According to her, spreading Lord Krishna’s message of love, peace, and harmony is also deeply personal, as the Ambani family are followers of Shrinanji.

Other business ventures

Nita Ambani is involved in several other business and charitable ventures, too. She is the Chairperson of Sir H N Reliance Foundation Hospital that was inaugurated by Prime Minister NarendraModi in October 2014. Located in South Mumbai, the hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a 345-bed capacity!Celebrities like Sachin Tendulkar, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, among others, rubbed shoulders at the event. The hospital is already playing a pivotal role in the rapidly growing telemedicine sector.

Ambani also launched the Indian Super League, last year to promote football in India. The league is the fourth largest in the world and it drew the fourth largest stadium attendance in the world in its very first season!The league has been greeted with a great deal of enthusiasm fromthe teams, franchises and the fans. It aims to develop football from the grassroots level and will serve as a platform for Indian talent on a global stage.

She is also the founder and chairperson of the reputedDhirubhai Ambani International School, which has been rated as the best global school in India according to Education World India School Rankings. It has now earned the coveted top spotfor two consecutiveyears. Despite her involvement in such diverse ventures, she continues to enjoy high levels of success in all her endeavours.

In addition to these projects she has also spearheaded a tree plantation campaign and oversaw the plantation of 3 million trees in the Jamnagar area, where a Reliance Industries refinery complex is located. For an upcoming project, she is planning a convention and performing arts center in Mumbai that will be opened in 2018.

Reliance Jio’s rural connectivity project

Mukesh Ambani, her husband and Chairman of Reliance Industries, is setting up a roll out of a huge 4G network across India. The telecom arm, Reliance JioInfocomm has now begun to lay fiberoptic cablesin the state of Meghalaya to enhance rural connectivity.

The company has finished 64% of its infrastructural work. Out of the total 6,459 villages, 890 villages will enjoy the benefits from the first phase of Reliance Jio’s project. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2018.
