Reliance Foundation (RF) acts as the philanthropic arm of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) and is headed by Founder and Chairperson, Nita Ambani. It carries out extensive charitable work in various fields including healthcare by introducing quality facilities and creating equal opportunities for the underprivileged sections of Indian society.
The foundation believes in ‘Health for All’ which is also its motto. It operates on an integrated model that provides marginalized communities with an extensive network of medical mechanisms. The foundation has touched over 28 lakh lives owing to its regular health workshops, camps, consultations and subsidized treatment facilities.
In the East Godavari District at Gadimoga, RIL employees gathered to contribute money and distribute nutritive kits to HIV-affected children. Under RF’s monthly Chiru Deepam initiative, 100 children regularly receive nutritional kits. The program has been functional since 2008 at Kakinada and Vetlapalem. It allows RIL employees to support at least one HIV-positive child by providing the child with the nutritive kits each month.
On 27th July 2016, District Collector H Arun Kumar endorsed the cause by distributing notebooks, kits, uniforms, and school bags to the children. He professed his support and commended RF for having undertaken such a noble cause through a unique program. He explained how Andhra Pradesh’s State Department was also aiding the poor and disabled communities through welfare schemes.
M Francis, the District Public Relation Officer also attended the event and praised RF’s persistent efforts. Other attendees included S Ramana Rao, NV Ramana Murthy, Lakkaraju Seshu Kumari, SP Reddy, and many more.
Through quick mobilization and easily accessible medical facilities, Reliance Foundation aims to provide free services to the impoverished sections of society. It provides quality healthcare services with the help of its Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) and Static Medical Units (SMUs which are available in regions like Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai, and Uttarakhand. These initiatives have benefitted the lives of more than 400,000 individuals in Mumbai who have enrolled for the same.
The medical units store patient information on the cloud and plan routine check-ups and programs for various communities. Thorough consultations and state-of-the-art technology help serve the individuals efficiently.
Women and children
Nita Ambani led foundation has extensively participated in awareness programs that benefit women and mothers. This includes camps conducted on themes like cervical cancer, anemia, menstruation, and the important of child immunization.
Through this initiative, the foundation aims to detect anemia at its early stage, prevent malnutrition in women and children and also provide malnourished individuals with nutritive supplements and regular follow-ups.
The foundation celebrated the International Women’s Day by disseminating information regarding the health of women across its rural bases. 11,500 individuals from over 124 villages have benefitted through the RF-organized health camps.
Reliance Foundation conducts comprehensive healthcare programs across the country. Through its monthly programs in Andhra Pradesh, it recently distributed nutritional kits to 100 HIV-positive children.
